Kansans for Higher Education Political Action Committee had a tremendous first year of operation in 2020 because of support from friends of University of Kansas, Kansas State, and higher education in Kansas. This Year-in-Review summary provides an update on the PAC’s accomplishments in 2020.

- Supported 74 candidates in the general election who have been elected and will serve in the Kansas legislature in the 2021 legislative session, nearly half of all Kansas legislators.
- Disbursed $67,250 to campaigns collectively across the primary and general election cycles, along with $20,000 contributed to Kansas House and Kansas Senate leadership PACs for both parties.
- Established lines of communication with members of Kansas House and Senate leadership for both political parties.
- Engaged in productive communication and received positive feedback in candidate questionnaire responses, letters, emails, and numerous conversations with more than 50 elected officials and candidates about the importance of legislative support for KSU, KU, KUMC, and higher education.
- Raised $175,750 from 80 separate contributors.
- Maintained more than $78,500 in cash-on-hand at the end of the year.
In 2021, KSU, KU, KUMC, and higher education in Kansas will face unprecedented headwinds in the Kansas Statehouse to obtain adequate funding and support from the state’s elected officials. Because of the tremendous support of so many friends of KSU, KU, and higher education in Kansas, the PAC is well-positioned to play an important part in that advocacy.
